On July 12, 2019, I had the pleasure to work with Cole and Lana for their wedding at Eden Gardens. This was my second time working a wedding at the venue. It's a gorgeous, outdoor venue in Moorpark that takes wedding guests on a nice trip around the venue as the wedding ceremony, dinner, and dancing are in different areas. In the middle of the venue is a nice lake and surrounding it are plenty of greenery. It's like a mini escape from the city life and takes guests into a lush garden experience.
That evening I took care of their ceremony, cocktail, and reception. We had a live harpist during the ceremony and I supported the sound amplification for the harpist and provided wireless microphones for the officiant and couple. The cocktail hour took place at the pavilion which is transformed into the dancing area later that evening. For dinner, we had it at the open reception area. I had 3 setups that day so all the music was set and ready to go wherever their guests were.
What's unique about that day was that I had used 2 laptops and 2 DJ controllers. I had 1 setup during the dinner and mixed songs during dinner. My setup for dinner was as follows: 2 QSC K8.2, 1 Numark NVII controller, 1 Shure QLXD24/SM58 microphone, 1 Yamaha Mixer.
When it was time to move guests over to the covered pavilion area for dancing, I had my 2nd DJ setup ready to go. My setup for dancing was as follows: 2 RCF EVOX 8, 1 DDJ-SR2, Mini Moving Heads, 1 Shure QLXD24/SM58 microphone, SoundSwitch, and 1 White Novopro Facade
For music, I played a mixture of 90s, 00s, country, throwbacks, current Top 40, and even some EDM! As the night got wild, we had guests lift Cole and Lana up on chairs! And we even got people to do the limbo on the dance floor with someone else's tie haha
Wrapping up the night, I played Lady Gaga's hit song "Shallow" and everybody sang out loud to it. Then I played another hit request from the Best Man, "Wagon Wheel" and that kept the energy and spirits up that everybody sang to. And lastly, I ended the night with "Everybody" by the Backstreet Boys.
